I am new to odesk, but I am very excited about its potential for me. Upon finding out about it, I was very psyched, but after searching the first few jobs I saw, and looking for a quick task to start me off, I was practically depressed by the ridiculously low fees some were being payed. $1 an hour? how can I get by with that? But the more I find out, the more I can see, if you are skilled, and you do good work, you can make good money. And I am now cutting out commuting costs! I hope that more people using odesk will realize that it is not in their best interest to work for ridiculous rates. Supply and demand, we the providers are in charge of what the buyers pay. There should be a mild conspiracy by us to at least keep the prices reasonable. But lets also remember that if we push the prices up to high, buyers will not see the value, and odesk will no longer be profitable.
